More interesting items/ideas for a Bioshock Rapture MMORPG

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- -

Part 70

--- --- ---

The Tentacle Splicer Stuff just Never Worked Out :

The MMORPG Rapture would continue with the near human presentation of Splicers, and not delve much into the more tentacle/blobbish/twisted freak ( like seen in many of Bioshock concept artwork ).

There could be some recreation of scenes mentioned in detail in the Novel about the results of some of the early ADAM experiments done in Fontaine's company labs (horrendous things that even made Fonatine want to vomit).   Good Times .....

--- --- ---

The Great Ball Bearing Computer  (NOT made by McClendon & Co, Inc) :

,---
-<
'---

Streams/Wave of ball bearings head off in different directions to different parts of the machine.

Gravity force, Levers, Path diverging, Electromagnetic Triggers, Magnets, Dinging bells, Control 'Flippers' (Pinball Logic...)

An amusing ka-ching ka-ching sound as the machine 'cognates'.

Beware the ones that come shooting out at high velocity into your face...
Or when it malfunctions - slipping on the tiny round things rolling all over the floor.

Splicers may have (in their usual half-mental way) built their own 'Com-pu-ter' using bowling balls and simulacrum (? how many real bowling balls really were there to find/use/be-wanted in Rapture??)

Goldfinger Boss : "No Mr Meltzer, I expect you to DIE !!"  (KaChing running in the background)

Doubles as amusing 'live' pinball game for Player's Mission scene (that one at the start of "Indiana Jones" was basically the same thing...)   A bowling ball hurling at 20 mph can do serious damage...

One time they got an answer of '42' (or did they miscount? many have 6 fingers these days...)

--- --- ---

Heres an Idea : Use this MMORPG Mechanism and Tools to do Columbia "The Way It Should Have Been" :

The MMORPGs system is modular, and many of the same game mechanics apply, many of the same Assets can be reused/shared/slightly-modified, for that period look.

For people who want to play in that Fantasy Floating City, they can do it exclusively.  Different periods of Columbia presented : Pre-Seccession, Comstock-Run/Pre-Booker, Booker Mayhem/Vox Uprising, The Hello Kitty-Purple Unicorn-Harry Potty Continuum (the stock game plot).

For Players who 'just want to visit', it could be a Splicer Delusion they can walk around in and encounter whatever mayhem is happening there (and various extremely odd overlap/cross-overs).

Scenarios ?   Nice peaceful 'proper' part of the city, a downtrodden slum/slave pen, a Vox controlled area, Mistreating the Serfs the good ole American way, the whacky 1900 American olde fashion religion ...

Tears can introduce all kinds of weirdness (the types you see in dreams/delusions) now no longer the 'generic' battle stuation ones they degenerated into (the Trailers showed a much better game, which unfortunately they were unable to deliver).  Idea - to sandbox the whole place, have random spawns and scenes (and decent Tears), open paths fro your own adventure (you dont have to be led by a ring through your nose like the original).

You could twist it around and make it an Art Deco floating cityscape, just for fun (I suppose) and substitute Sander Cohen for Comstock (which would make Booker ....).   That rediculously huge 'Angel' Statue could be a giant Big Daddy (nah, you know it would be Sander Cohens face...).  Much fun could be had by all.

--- --- ---

Ryanium may be an Artificial Graphite :

With Ryan expertise in high enegry power technologies, this would fit into his area of interest. Mass production of such materials is done at very high temperatures (vaporizing carbon in inert gases).

Graphite (carbon fiber) was ignored for decades in the real world, but was already long known by the time of Rapture's inception.  Used in composites as an additive to cement/concrete, it would be very useful in providing a much stronger reinforced concrete needed for the bulk of Rapture's construction.

Graphite isnt a compression strength material, so no, there shouldn't be any Bathysphere shells made out of it.

It is possible that 'Ryanium' was a generic name applied to more than one advanced material - a Brand name.

--- --- ---

Sunk 5000 fathoms below Ryan's shining city,  says Atlas in BaS2 :

Sorry, 6 feet per fathom makes that 30000 feet.  Thats water pressure at 1000 atmospheres or 14000lb/in^2 (7 tons of weight pushing in on EVERY square inch of EVERY building/window/etc...  600 feet down was bad enough.)

Atlas would be fishfood paste if his 'prison' was sunk to a teenie-tiny fraction of that depth ,,, crushville ... "flat as a pancake", sudden like a sledgehammer squashing an egg.

Ludicrous statement, so it must be some common Rapture saying - maybe a punch line from a well-known Sander Cohen Comedy (possibly some awful double entendre).

"Against Stupity, the Gods themselves stand Powerless" - Roman Proverb (appropriate to this ideas use)

Besides, the deepest point in the Atlantic is off Puerta Rico, and it is about 28000 feet deep

--- --- ---

Is There Really Enough Depth(heh) for a Rapture themed MMORPG ?? : Something interesting under every rock... (more detail to the Game World)

Just like Bioshock, you have that Art Deco/WW2/40s-50s era themed stuff to borrow ideas from.

LOTRO has a story theme with 'depth', but is rather shallow in its gameplay....

The task is to create a captivating Game World, still with the nostalgia elements, jungle of the ruins, flashbacks to its past, and a whole large cityscape full of adventures and stuff in the sea...

More story than the brief smidgens we got (most there just to force the cockamamie 'twist' plot).  Lots more to the story of Rapture to be told.

--- --- ---

Did Stanley Poole Ever Splice?

During the flashbacks via Eleanor, we see him inject an EVE hypo into his arm, yet there's no physical evidence of him having any Plasmid powers.  Could citizens have just used EVE hypos as a way to get high or something of the sort?   Supposedly injecting yourself with ADAM (or some combination of it) provided some sort of high/rush (remember that there were manu for medical purposes and no doubt many others).  Poole seems perfectly sane and (relatively) healthy by the time of Bioshock 2.  It is possible that with moderation you body can undo damage, or it took ALOT more Splicing and mixing certain combinations to thoroughly screw up your body and head.

.

How much did you have to use ADAM before it started showing visual effects - we are not really told/shown.

Possibly those injectors were used for other drugs also in Rapture's World (when in Bioshock-dev-land they were loath to create additional 3D assets for anything minor).  There were plenty of other "recreational" drugs available, and maybe even other ones that were sold saying that they were BETTER than ADAM's 'recreational' effects (and possibly cheaper).  ADAM's effects also didn't seem (to us) to last very long, which would be an interestiing thought -- that all thru the game we were "high" with all the various accompanying distortions of reality, etc..  (we did see those 'ghosts' which might be more hallucination than any "RNA memories".)

Booker had Spliced, employees at that Lounge in BaS1 looked to do it as part of their job, without any sideeffects obviously showing (as breifly as we saw them).  But thats also DLC which the game company might not have been caring much about continuity of details or subtleties.

Idea for MMORPG Flashback - Jack starts gibbering to himself (he didnt say a word in the whole game) as the side-effects of all that ADAM kicks in.

--- --- ---

Twisted Flashback Sequence (Breaking the 4th wall)

Scene of some game developers at a meeting discussing how bizaare fan-fiction can get, and then the problems of trying to fit new content into existing Canon (various cliches, strange ideas expressed - infamous frog with tube up butt, dog in a wheelchair, etc... etc...), while dealing with budgets and time constraints and demanding higher-ups.   THEN Spider Splicers crawl out of the rooms vents and cut them all to ribbon in an orgy of blood and pizza and bottled water.  The Splicers then face the camera and hiss "sssso who'ssss next".   Fade to Black.  Then the glowing hand-with-middle-finger icon rises with words underneath "You keep buying this crap, we'll keep making this crap."  Fade out....

--- --- ---

Medical ADAM :

Various surgery repairs (sugary repairs in Little Sister-land) were possible using ADAM, and we only got a subset of all the ones that existed (like which ones did Steinman use in his work ?)  If you can grow a flamethrower arm, you could rebuilt a voice box (might not sound exactly the same).  Tenenbaum could have applied something like that to regenerate the needed tissue (and other things) before de-Tonicing/de-Plasmidizing (or whatever else she did to get Jack closer back to normalcy, and to avoid all the genetic turbulance which twisted most Splicers who did only a fraction of the Splicing Jack had done)

--- ---

TV - The Sander Cohen Hour (on Nico-Time Theater Presents) :

But since Sander Cohen has been in Rapture from quite early and has largely missed what Surface TV had to show, how might that warp whet is shown here in Rapture ??

--- --- ---

Analog Computers :

http://www.analogmuseum.org/english/impressions/

They used these things to solve alot of research calculations, before our type of computers came into being.

--- --- ---

Infinitely BS :

With this multi-universe thing, there would be an Infinite number of Luteces (and the Infinite number of time machines to send them on their '3 hour tour' ) and also an Infinite number of Elizabeths.  Since every quantum particle in the Universe (not quite an Infinite number of them) can flip one way or the other (or is it they can flip to a Infinite number of states??),  every one that flips spawns a new multiverse Universe (I think Im upto Infinite cubed so far).    It is possible they can do this and continue flipping Infinitely fast too (but I will ignore that for now).

Now with the possibility of transfering between these Infinite cubed Multi-verses and interfering with them Infinite ways we achieve Infinite Quadrupled.  How does Elizabeth pick and choose (and according to Heisenberg and Schrodinger - Elizabeth entering a Universe instantly changes its course - or rather spawns another Infinite 'realities' (heh, everytime she farts Infinite new Universes spring into being...).

So Elizabeth, attempt to fix as many as you like, there are Infinitely more messed up ones you will never get to (assuming your fix EVER actually fixes anything and doesnt just create an Infinite number of MORE messed up ones).

Somewhere amongst all those possibilities there MUST be at least one Universe that is not ludicrous.

BTW, Elizabeth 'fixed' that Rapture Universe (in the BaS DLC) by helping Atlas (by freeing him) to murder thousands, and largely destroy Rapture (more thousands) AND she could not even be sure that she saved 'Sally' (so this quantum pinkey power gives her 20-20 prophecy abilities ? Yeah this magic stuff is such a lame crutch for a game writer - I almost expect them to be embarassed for what they created)..

--- ---

"Pssst, Hey Buddy, You Wanna Buy a Bible ?" :

An odd distortion was presented to the Bioshock Player showing large numbers of Contraband Bibles and Crucifixes.  Bibles and Crucifixes were NOT illegal to own (seemingly it is implied though ?).  Wasnt it actually the fact that they were SMUGGLED IN, which made those ones seen illegal/contraband ? With such large piles in evidence, it was some pretty dimwitted Smugglers to have so many/much of the same never-sold accumulated goods.  Real Contraband has to be valued sufficiently by thos receiving the stuff that there is a profit left after ALL the cost/expenses required to obtain them - the operations on the Surface, the Sub transport including difficulties avoiding security, labor, bribes(?), hideout construction and operating expenses, obtaining in Rapture whatever they traded the stuff FOR to the Surface...  Also there have to be big enough profits to pay for the Risk of a criminal operation be found out (all those side costs of Fontaine killing/coercing employees he thought might otherwise squeal).

Crucifixes could be MADE in Rapture (seriously), Piles of Newspapers get handed around pretty quickly once seen.  Booze FROM Rapture ??? (it better be really good stuff to compete).   How many Bibles (which dont get used up, and COULD be printed IN Rapture) really were needed before the small population all had theirs?   Not the most lucrative items to smuggle.  Where were the chocolate bars, silk stockings, good cigarettes, Caviar, and Spices ??   Up where all the 'Seized' stuiff was labeled it would have been carted off and sold to pay for the City's criminal investigation, but down in the still hidden  Smugglers Hideout ??

The MMORPG could elaborate on the REAL Smuggling operations which Rapture had (exposing the seedy sub-culture that existed in Rapture).

--- ---

UFO Incident for Rapture :

A report of a mysterious object found at a remote location at great depth...

Turns out to be some lost Macy's Thankgiving Day Float  or some missing Adverstising submarine (which would tow glowing advertisements outside around buildings) of Sander Cohens.

--- --- ---

Excerpt From [[1]]   :

Jack isn't actually Ryan's son, or the child that Fontaine and Suchong grew and programmed... he's just an escaped mental patient who does what people tell him to.
While 'Jack' did obey Fontaine's and Ryan's orders when he was given the 'Would you kindly' phrase, he also obeys Dr. Langford to get the rose, Sander Cohen to kill some people to get their pictures, Peach Wilkins to risk his life to get a camera and take photos of Spider Splicers, and Tenenbaum to have himself turned into a Big Daddy simply to get through one door when he could have tried using dynamite instead... all without one of them using the code phrase.  Its quite possible that the 'real' Jack tried hijacking the plane only to have a demented mass murderer eat him and wear his clothes.  Then 'Crazy Jack' went into Rapture and pretty much filled the same role as the 'real' Jack would have, that's why Fontaine failed was because his supposed puppet wasn't really a puppet... just some crazy guy who kills people as soon as look at him unless they ask him to fetch stuff.  'Crazy Jack' is probably a drug addict since he has no qualms with sticking random needles into his arms.  The reason the Bathyspheres let him move around is because the so called 'sensors' that excluded anyone except Ryan from using them were made by the lowest bidder and just let anyone move around...  Atlas could move around to help you and Sander Cohen could mess with them as well.  The heart troubles from the Code Yellow phrase was just the natural result of all that splicing and eating cheap food off of burned corpses catching up with him (Tenenbaum's attempt to remove programming from his brain that was never there in the first place might have been a factor as well).  And Ryan wasn't actually controlling Crazy Jack during the cutscene...  Crazy Jack was just playing around until Ryan asked him to beat his head in.

But then how would he be able to use the Vita Chambers?  -  He doesn't.  He's just imagining them because he's utterly insane. That's why nobody mentions or uses them.   Suchong mentions the Vita Chambers in a recording, but he thinks they're a half-baked idea.  They may have indeed been yet another failed experiment, but Crazy Jack nonetheless believes that they help him.   If he saves the Little Sisters, it's not because of any sudden attack of conscience, but because he's a psychopath who wants more playthings when he returns to the surface.

... twisted

Another one from ^^^ - which is chock full of various speculations from before the Sequels Came out...

Security Chief Sullivan killed Suchong :

Sullivan was one of the few people in Ryan's adminstration who seemed to notice how screwed up things were, and BioShock 2's loading quotes reveal he was the one who discovered Suchong's body.  Feeling guilty over his own actions, and wanting to prevent more damage from being done by the mad scientist, he murdered Suchong and faked an audio tape to implicate a Big Daddy.  Furthermore, when we discover Suchong's body the drill seems stuck there, which would seem improbable if the hulking Big Daddy did it.

-

Quite possible if the Infinite BS DLC was all a hallucination Elizibeth had as she was being Lobotomized/Shock-treated (remember her 'trip to Paris... And all that Booker talking in her head stuff..)

--- --- ---

Stupid But Amusing BaSx :

Look carefully... At the time of his death Suchong was missing the middle finger of his right hand, which was the consequence of having been giving Fink the Finger on their last meeting, when that particular Tear closed on it.

But does that now mean that Suchong is an inter-dimensional quantumized 'god' like Elizabeth, who can now set out to get revenge on Fink for stealing his ideas ?   Suchong would probably revel in his now being a god (That Big Daddy that shoved the drill through him better look out, as well as those brat kids of the rich people his parents were servants to, when he was a child).

--- --- ---

Players Trophy Case (alot of Games have these) :

Many games have a Player 'House', but it is pretty much useless and just a storage space and token Trophy Case for various contrived nick-nacks collected from various 'missions' (Players having exactly the same Trophy things as 10000-100000+ other Players have).  Even when MMORPG games had 'communities', people rarely used their houses as meeting places and many intentionally omitted placeable crafting facilities because it would make their largely deserted cities/bank locations even more deserted.

Except here in MMORPG Rapture there would be much more varying/unique things to be put there (and to do there).  Clever Auto-Generation can be employed and Quests/Missions would generate such 'Trophy' things even if just as momentos (with the advantage of mutating them to make them more unique).

Actual in-game created Artworks have been mentioned previously (your own or someone else's who actually has some talent).   The usual decorations, but of a wide variety (and flxibility in placement).

Any crap you find out in the Ruins of Rapture, you could stick in your (House) Residence (and business stor and storage yard, anything you can manage to cart there).

Personalized items (letters of Appreciation from the City Council) to put up on one's bulletin board.

A place to put the puzzle pieces you are slowly collecting which will divulge some critical unique Rapture Secret (like exactly WHO DID actually come up with the Self-Cleaning Toilet ... or what was up with that Plaster-shit of Cohen's ...)

The latest Assemblage contraption/device/Rapture-saving Artifact, one is looking for the missing parts for.

Workbenches, Maps, Lockers for equipment,  'Team' Lackey NPC's own stuff/gear/tools ... Collections of 'interesting' rubbish, etc...

Implement a Free Positioning/Overlaying/Marking of objects,  versus a limited/inadaquate'lockdown slot' system (hardly worth the bother in many MMORPGs).  They did that fairly well in Ultima Online over 15 years ago, and people did incredible imaginitive things with that system even as limited as the mechanism still was.

A Game mechanism would be in place to keep Players from breaking into your Residence and filching things or just breaking/trashing them (you KNOW there would be Players wanting/trying to do that, and also how loudly they would whine about winding up an Insta-corpse, or as a 'locked up' miscreant, tied down for the rest of their in-game life in the City Jail or on a Chain Gang.

--- --- ---

What is Drill Fuel ? :

Compressed methane or heavier gasses synthesized from methane which you can get from processing garbage or biological byproduct materials. Possibly.  Butane liquifies at room temp...  Hydrogen usually is too bulky or too cold as a liquid.   Ethanol would be good, as it is well understood, and can be made from agricultural products within Rapture.

Not Oil ?   Rapture is supposed to be built on a volcanic site (igneous rocks are not known for containing oil/fossil fuels) and around it is ocean depths 3000ft and deeper, with a similar rock makeup (a tectonic spreading zone, where igneous rocks come up from the mantle).  I looked to find the nearest ocean oil drilling site to Rapture, which is about 500 miles away North-ish of Iceland.

Does this fuel use warrant a major facility located that far away?  just to run some power tools ?   Possiibly the Trains/Bathyspheres/Subs (with their bigger fuel consumption) also used the same fuel,  whichever it was.

The drill tool requires a motor driven by whatever power source.  Fuel burned with an oxidizer in an engine like a chainsaw or leafblower for example.   A bit of modification is needed to work in a range of pressures.  The exhaust has to be expelled into water (if used out there) against the pressure of whatever depth Rapture really is (I would make it ~600 feet to not be too much - but thats still 20 atm pressure).  You'd have to allow for widely varying the compression in the cylinders (or possible turbine), but the combustion pressure can be up around 100atm allowing that to still work.

Maybe its just food pellets for ADAM-modified Hamsters in a running wheel, by that time...

Or a hand turned 'peppermill' mechanism, like that Gatling gun in Infinite BS's Columbia (oops, sorry this isn't supposed to be Fantasy).

--- --- ---

The Farside Constants :  There is ALWAYS a Cow, a Duck, and a Squid ....

--- --- ---

Excerpt from   http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WMG/BioshockInfinite

Columbia is Actually a Vivid Hallucination of Booker DeWitt :

The main character of BioShock Infinite is actually a Splicer who is imagining the entire "city in the sky" setting while actually still being in Rapture.  It is possible that DeWitt was an American who grew up in the early 1900s, moved to Rapture only to grow disillusioned along with many others and managed to survive Rapture's Civil War, but is a deranged splicer like most of the city's inhabitants.  Yearning for both the "good old days", as well as escape from the underwater city, he crafted a personal delusion that mixed both his wishes: a place with the trappings of his childhood and as far away from the ocean floor as possible, which is why Columbia appears as oozing with Americana and is located in the sky.  However, elements of reality still sink in, such as the Big Daddy figurine, the Big Daddy-esque mechanical creature, and the fact that DeWitt and Elizabeth apparently seem to possess Plasmid-like abilities.

-

I said long ago that Columbia "is all a Dream" (apparently, one by someone with serious problems).

Possibly it is the other way around, and All Of It (including Rapture) is a fever dream that Booker has because of too much bad Patent Toothache Medicine he took.

-

Yet More Excerpt:

Everyone is Booker :

Booker is not only Comstock.  He's also Elizabeth.  And Slate. And Fitzroy.  And both Luteces.  And that random Vox Populi gunner at the left.  The events of the whole game are an extremely complicated Timey-Wimey Ball he inflicted on himself to teach himself... uhhh... something.

-

Heh. Endless speculation in that TVTropes article (alot written before Infinite came out) - frequently making more sense than the actual "Pseudo-Science Do whatever Sounded Good Written on the Denny's Napkin Plot".

--- --- --- ---

How to Justify all this BaSx Weirdness They've Contaminated the Canon with ? :

What are the concrete things introduced by BaS1/BaS2 worth keeping (keep the stuff compatible with the classic Rapture)?   A bunch of Infinite BS flavored stuff that is wrong for the original Bioshock requires 'corrections'.

Elizabeth comes and goes (twice or is it 3 times) -- Just another corpse - one of so many.  A conglomeration of several ranting Splicers talking to visions and running about screaming something about being sunk into the Abyss.  Electroshock all round.

Booker, a P.I. of no consequence -- gone before interesting things really start.  Another casualty of the Civil War.

The fancy Market Street and High Street - some part of Rapture could look somewhat like that, though the rediculous huge windows have to be made smaller like those oversized ones in Neptunes Bounty.  HUGE flat surfaces with massive force pressing on them is just too Harry Potter  (King Leonidas screaming THIS IS RAPTURE!!! and kicking Ken Levine down into the pit of sellouts...)    Impossible to build Rapture anywhere else, but NOT with those rediculous windows.

"Fontaine's" might still exist, but downsized like many of the other buildings shown as being much too large (and especially too tall).   Corrections making it more a 'Mall' than a Department Store (and unlikely Any Ryan Academy' would be THERE) -OR- just a more typical 'store' like a real department store (and exterior more squat with fancy decorative towers if it must).  Sorry 'Sinking' isnt allowed for buildings affixed to the seabed. (tethered building swaying in Ocean currents - Fontaines best sold product would be sea-sickness pill just like it was in 'floating' Columbia).

Little Wonders Educational Facility on Market Street?  Doesnt belong in the high rent area, due to expense and the fact that it is something Fontaine would want hidden from public view.

Suchong to Investigate 'Tear' -- just more Ghost Stories (like BS1 - they are ADAM caused delusions) for those 'Tears' people see (remember this was new and seen by fewer people - fewer deranged Splicers existing..)

Suchong interacting with 'Fink' -- Suchong apparently still had some of that 'good' Opium...

October 29th Suchong allegedly develops 'ingestible' Plasmids ?? (has only been peeking into Columbia/Fink since Oct 15...) and they (Drinkable Plasmids) are suddenly all over (including in a seized/locked down 'sunk' prison) by Dec 31 ??  --  Ingestible Plasmids would have been a logical development long before this period, so ...  (And if they took alot more ADAM (thus more expensive) they would have been largely abandoned before they even became products.  But you dont need Fink for this alternate ADAM delivery technology to be made to work OR that wasteful way.)    Fontaine Audio Diary chewing SUchong out for this debacle?   You'd think Fontaine would allow a decision like that made by others and Suchong's wouldnt "wind up in cement overshoes"/"sleeping with the fishes" for deciding such on his own and botching it ?

Suchong involved in the technical development of the Vita-Chamber ??  It all being involved somehow with Fink who was only met so short a time before ... ????   Ditch this with Suchong lasting longer (BS2 version of his death) and doing Big Daddy stuff, and TESTING Vita-Chamber stuff developed by Sinclair and Alexander.  We find Vita-Chambers already deployed all over Rapture in BS1 (would adding them commercially be logical once the Civil War started ?  Maybe if the theory about it being Ryans future 'Cure' is used).  Is Suchong even a logical one to be its 'creator', when previous Audio Diaries showed he himself thought they were BS when Alexander and Sinclair explained it to him ?

Suchong's lab also has recreated a "Lutece Device", so he has built his own Trans-Dimensional Device
-- so instead change this to be him testing the Vita-Chamber mechanism - prototypes usually look odd (and that 'Lutece BS' was a cover story or rumor joke of his underling minions).   The machines do look somewhat the same...

Atlas escapes?   Was he really stupid enough to let himself be caught, with all the other precautions and preparations he is shown to take??  Or for such a pathetic/unrealistic/illogical scheme/joke of a 'prison' to exist as it did in BaSx ?  SO no, this part is 'rumors' or Atlas-lies to vilify Ryan (Sunk... yeah thats a good one).

All the Atlas Posters seen in Fontaine's (in the DLC - "Who is Atlas") ...  Fontaine's Thugs arent going to be swayed by that leftist hero stuff.  Again jumping the gun in the plot (and illogically), just recycling later game time period stuff and inserting it in way too early in the Rapture story.  Compressing events til it is WAY too rediculous.  Patch by making it all just more crazy-Splicer delusions.

Atlas, he's in there with a bunch of Fontaine's thugs, not 'down and out' poor folk that Atlas is supposed to be a rebel leader and savior for.   Those thugs (add half-ADAM-crazed and 'needing a fix' into their mentality) might not think much of some newcomer  (never seen before - after he's done his identity switch) calling himself  "Atlas", setting himself up as their 'leader'.   Many likely might think THEY could do a much better job in that role, or at least not care to be told what to do by some Joe-Blow.  It is called "Putting too many rats into too small a cage" - they kill each other.   Atlas isn't a Splicer, he might not even be half as good as many of the Thugs with weapons (and he has to sleep sometime).   Why would THEY have to/want to  accept/tolerate  HIM as their leader (this isnt 'Fontaine who held so many cards and already had a reputation...)  -- I can just see several of his fellow Prisoners saying " Who Elected YOU God ???" .. BLAMMMMMO.    SO its rumors of an escape attempt by some of Fontaine's imprisoned minions (in Persephone)  'remembering' gibberish while getting ElectroShock treatments.

Sally, was just another Little Sister absorbed to feed Rapture's addiction (was she the Little Sister that Diane McClintock mentioned killing with her posse in that Audio Diary ?)    Funny thing is that in BaS2 Elizabeth sets loose Fontaine enabling him to ruin Rapture and cause the death of countless Citizens, just because she 'thinks' Jack is going to later 'Save' Sally, but the likelihood of her actually surviving that long are slim and Oops Jack (The Player) decides to Harvest her for the tasty ADAM instead....   Meanwhile many Thousands die because of what Elizabeth has done - convenient that she couldn't see THAT in the future.

Easy-Peasy is to call alot of the DLC stuff just a delusion of some Splicer telling tales between  "Shock Treatments" to Sofia Lambs 'specialists' (treatments very conveniently leaving the 'patient' susceptible to 'volunteering' for Fontaine Futuristics testing, Big-Daddydom, or later as 'Utopian ADAM Donators".)

Perhaps there were also supposed to be some fabulous Magic Beans somehow wrapped into the BaSx content that was expunged from the Game for being 'too stupid' ??

--- --- --- ---

All this Genetic Modification - What about Genticly Altering Seaslugs ??

No doubt research was done along these lines --  at minimum by Fontaine to try to make the Slugs generate more ADAM (unsuccessful apparently and thus requiring the expense/difficulties of using children as 'hosts').

This would be something to still research, assuming New Rapture still wants ADAM to do more research into,  AFTER potentially making ADAM products safer and with much less side-effects.  ADAM still had great potential use for its medicinal properties (what many of the earlier ADAM products were developed for ...)
